Hong Kong, a special administrative region of the people’s republic of China offers wide range of opportunities to foreign nationals. Hong Kong has introduced Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS) for immigration purposes. It is a Quota-based scheme. It attracts highly skilled and talented people who can play a vital role in establishing the country economically on international level. Their immigration firm has their own mechanism of approving the applications based on point system. However Hong Kong has imposed restrictions on the nationals of Afghanistan, Cuba, Laos, Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of), Nepal and Vietnam that this scheme is not applicable on their nationals.
Applying for QMAS:
All applicants who are applying for QMAS program must fulfill some perquisites while applying for this scheme. These Prerequisites are as follows;

- Applicant should not have any kind of previous criminal record.

All those applicants who meet all the requirements of prerequisites are then awarded the points under Point based test system. This system is comprised on two main grading criteria i.e.

- Achievement Point Test
Both tests have their own factor scoring. Usually GPT comprises of five scoring factors and APT comprises on only one point scoring factor. After assessing the particulars, grade points are awarded in these tests.
Overall, the applicant must score 80 out of 195 points to apply for Hong Kong QMAS immigration visa.
APPLICATION AND VISA PROCESSING:
On the basis of the results given in the above test, application is further processed by the immigration authority of Hong Kong. For this purpose, selection exercises are done on regular basis for the allocation of quota to the applicants. These exercises are conducted by the Director of immigration along with the Advisory Committee. These exercises are based on the assessment, point scoring and quota allocation under the QMAS scheme.
After particulars are assessed by the immigration authority, they will issue an approval in principle letter to the applicant who was given the quota. The applicant has to come to Hong Kong personally to attend the interview with the immigration committee along with the original documents asked the authorities.
After assessing and verifying the original documents provided by the applicant, the immigration authority will issue visa permit for entry in Hong Kong. A Hong Kong resident who has previously entered Hong Kong pursuant to any immigration policy or scheme is subject to conditions of stay in Hong Kong may only apply under the Scheme on condition that his/her application will be assessed on the basis that the applicant, his/her spouse and dependent children(if any), are regarded as fresh entrants not having the right to enter and remain in Hong Kong. Upon formal approval, the applicant will be issued with a visa/entry permit under the Scheme.
